Fitch Fuel Company Inc.

A 100+ Year-Old Fuel Company, Website Rebuild & Redesign

Project Goals

When Fitch Fuel came to High Effect, their existing website was essentially unusable. The old site had broken down, and their current website provider had been unable to get it repaired and back online. For a company that depends on customers being able to check fuel prices, request service and find important contact information, speed was critical.

Within about two hours of the initial call, we had a temporary landing page live so Fitch Fuel had a professional online presence again while we worked on the full rebuild.

The goal of the project was to replace the broken site with a modern, reliable WordPress website as part of our website design services, while preserving more than 100 years of family history and making the site easier for both customers and staff to use.

  • Restore a professional online presence immediately with a temporary landing page
  • Replace the broken and outdated website with a stable, modern WordPress build
  • Modernize the design while preserving Fitch Fuel’s fifth-generation, family-owned identity
  • Make heating oil, propane, kerosene and diesel fuel services easier to find and understand
  • Clearly showcase plumbing and heating sales, service and installation
  • Create prominent calls to action for ordering fuel, checking current prices and requesting service
  • Build a simple backend pricing system so staff can update fuel prices without editing page layouts
  • Structure the site with stronger local visibility in mind using our New Hampshire SEO services
  • Highlight Fitch Fuel’s staff, service area, customer programs and Neighbors Caring for Neighbors Fund

The finished site gives Fitch Fuel a dependable website again, with a much stronger customer experience, a backend their team can actually manage, and ongoing support through our managed website hosting services.

Results

Fitch Fuel’s new website gives the company a modern, professional online presence while keeping more than 100 years of family history at the center of the brand.

The redesigned homepage immediately directs customers to the information they use most — fuel delivery, plumbing and heating services, current fuel prices and service requests. Strong local photography, historic company imagery and clear calls to action help the site feel like Fitch Fuel rather than a generic fuel-company website.

One of the most important improvements was creating a custom backend pricing system. Fitch Fuel updates heating oil, kerosene and propane pricing regularly, so we built dedicated custom fields that allow staff to change those prices from one simple area in WordPress. The updated pricing is then displayed automatically on the website without requiring them to edit the page itself.

The project also reorganized Fitch Fuel’s services, staff, service areas, customer programs and community involvement into a much clearer website structure. The result is a site that is easier to maintain, easier for customers to navigate and better positioned for local search.
